Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 9, 2026

Millie (“Millie,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a personal and family budgeting app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. It applies to the Millie mobile app and this website.

We built Millie to be private by default: we do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use any third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is stored only in a securely hashed form — we never store or see your plain-text password.

Financial information you enter

Millie stores the budget information you choose to enter: budget categories and items, transactions, account balances, debts, and savings goals. In this version of the app, this information is entered manually by you — Millie does not connect to your bank or import your bank credentials.

Profile information

If you set up household profiles, we store the profile names, an optional avatar image, and an optional PIN you set to protect a profile. PINs are used only on your device and within your account to control access to profiles.

Photos (optional)

If you add a “vision board” image to a savings goal, the photo you select is stored with that goal. We access your photo library or camera only when you choose to add an image, and only for that purpose.

Diagnostics and crash data

To keep the app stable, we use a crash-reporting service that records technical diagnostics when the app encounters an error — such as the error message, the screen involved, the device type, and a timestamp. We have configured this service to strip personal identifiers (we remove email address, username, and IP address from crash reports), so diagnostics are not tied to your identity.

What we do not collect

  • We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or microphone data.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers or third-party advertising/analytics SDKs.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use your information

  • To provide the app's core features — budgeting, transactions, debt planning, and goals.
  • To sync your data securely across your devices and household profiles.
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
  • To respond to your support requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who processes your information

We use a small number of trusted service providers (sub-processors) to operate Millie:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication. Your account and budget data are stored here.
  • Sentry — receives crash diagnostics, with personal identifiers removed as described above.
  • Expo — delivers app updates. This processes app code only, not your personal data.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments, and only to provide their service to us.

How we protect your information

  • Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Each account's data is isolated at the database level, so one account cannot read another account's information.
  • On your device, authentication tokens are stored in the operating system's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
  • Crash reports are scrubbed of email address, username, and IP address before they leave your device.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

Data retention and your choices

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Security → close account). Deleting your account removes your associated personal and budget data from our systems. Crash diagnostics, which do not identify you, are retained for a limited period by our crash-reporting provider and then deleted.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To make a request, contact us at the address below.

Children's privacy

Millie is intended for adults managing a household budget. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

International users

Millie is operated from Canada and is subject to Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA). If you use Millie from outside Canada, your information may be processed in Canada and other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
